Is there disabled access? Yes. There is street-level access to Alien Bloc from the street. However, there is no lift to the second floor.
Do you have to book? Yes. Since reopening after lockdown, Alien Bloc requires booking online. Online bookings are taken through BookWhen.
Are masks compulsory? Yes. Masks must be worn while in communal areas. Masks can be removed for eating, drinking and while climbing a route.

Parking There is a small amount of free parking available in Alien Bloc’s driveway and at the front end of the building. This is often busy. Beaverhall road has paid parking Monday - Friday 08:30am - 5:30pm. At evening and weekends, Beaverhall road is free parking. Bike racks are available too.
Prices £10.50 - 2.5 hour session.
Is there shoe rental? Yes. Climbing shoes can be hired for £3
Can you hire equipment? No other equipment can be hired, but you can purchase chalk, climbing tape and chalk bags.
Is there a cafe on-site? Coffees, teas and cereal bars are sold at reception.
Is there changing facilities? Alien Bloc has both male and female changing rooms. While these were closed when covid restrictions were stricter, they have opened now that restrictions have eased.
Is there a viewing area for parents and spectators? Yes. There’s a raised viewing platform for parents and spectators to view Room 1.
Do you need to fill out a disclaimer form/ do an induction? Disclaimer forms can be done online or in person. Once this is complete there’s no need for an induction.
Mat and gym facilities Mats, olympic rings and dumbbells upstairs.

The climbing experience 🧗

The gym has four rooms. Two large classic bouldering rooms with slopers, an endurance wall, moonboards and slabs. One gym room upstairs and one a mezzanine with traverses and overhang caves.

The staff are extremely friendly and always happy to share tips, tricks or advice on what climbing shoes to buy. As an added bonus, the gym is also dog friendly. So you can bring your pooch while you climb!

Whether you swing by on a quiet weekday or take on the packed bustle or Alien Bloc on a weeknight, you're guaranteed to have a great time!

Alien Bloc’s Coronavirus Procedures 😷

Alien Bloc maintains strict hygiene standards in accordance with Scottish covid regulations.

Alien Bloc used to operate on a “walk in” basis. Limits on climbers allowed in and social distancing required Alien Bloc to use a booking system.

You can book a slot at Alien Bloc on BookWhen. Slots can be booked two weeks in advance.
