Is there disabled access? | Yes. Eden Rock has ramps from the street level up to its main reception area. From reception, there’s a lift down to the main hall. |
Do you have to book? | Experienced climbers do not need to book Eden Rock, but you may be turned away if the gym is at its 100 person capacity. Inexperienced climbers are required to book an induction. |
Are masks compulsory? | Yes, masks are compulsory at Eden Rock unless you are medically exempt. You can take the mask off when you’re on a route or you’re drinking/ eating. |

Parking | Eden Rock sits on an industrial estate with lots of free parking all around it. People driving to Eden Rock during should note that the estate around the gym can get particularly busy on weekday evenings. |
Prices | Eden Rock has a unique pricing structure. This includes membership costs: the cost you pay for being registered on their system, £5 a year. Price per session: £8.50 non peak times and £10 at peak times. There’s also multi-session discounts and “all you can climb” monthly memberships. Speak to the reception team to find out what’s available and what discounts you may be entitled to (there are concession prices for students ands kids.) |
Is there shoe rental? | Yes, there is shoe hire at Eden Rock. Climbing shoe hire costs £2 for kids and £3 for adults. |
Can you hire equipment? | While you can’t hire any equipment apart from shoes at the Eden Rock shop, it sells chalk bags, chalk, brushes and climbing tape. |
Is there a cafe on-site? | Yes, Eden rock has an on-site cafe selling coffees, teas and snacks. |
Is there changing facilities? | Yes, Eden Rock has changing rooms. |
Is there a viewing area for parents and spectators? | Yes, Eden Rock has a viewing area from the main reception which looks on to the first climbing room. |
Do you need to fill out a disclaimer form/ do an induction? | Eden Rock requires everyone who climbs there to fill out a disclaimer. Inexperienced climbers are also required to do an induction. Eden Rock’s reception team determine whether you’re experienced by asking you a series of questions about climbing facilities. |

The first thing that strikes climbers when they walk into Eden Rock is its size - it’s absolutely ginormous! While some bouldering gyms can get a little cramped, Eden Rock has two huge rooms, each being the size of a bouldering gym in their own right. The spacious facility has a fantastic range of slabs, overhangs and traverses to keep climbers entertained.
What really sets Eden Rock apart is its willingness to keep climbers engaged with regular events. Every week they run a social climbing night, a ladies’ night and an improver night ;ed by one of their instructors.
Eden Rock has brought in a number of measures to reduce the spread of coronavirus and keep climbers safe. Firstly, masks must be worn. You can take your mask off if you’re:
Customers are urged to socially distance from one another. As Eden Rock is a spacious warehouse facility, this is easy to stick to. To ensure social distancing, Eden Rock has limited the amount of people who can be in the gym at any one time to 100.
Eden Rock also takes cleaning and hygiene very seriously. The gym is cleaned regularly and customers are asked to sanitise their hands on entry and exit.

Unfortunately there are no direct buses to Eden Rock from Leith. If you’d like to get there by bus, you’ll have to switch buses. Use an app like the Lothian Bus app or Google Maps to plan this.
